Prof. Demet Lüküslü

Demet Lüküslü completed her master’s and PhD in sociology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She conducted postdoctoral research on the 1968 generation at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, and served as a visiting scholar at EHESS in France and the University of Giessen in Germany.

She is the author of The Youth Myth in Turkey: Youth in Post-1980 Turkey (İletişim Publications, 2009) and Turkey’s ’68: A Sociological Analysis of a Generation (Dipnot Publications, 2015). She also co-edited States of Youth: Being Young in 2000s Turkey (with Hakan Yücel; Efil Publications, 2013) and Young People, Radical Democracy and Community Development (with Janet Batsleer and Harriet Rowley, Policy Press, 2022).

Between 2015 and 2018, Lüküslü served as the national coordinator for Türkiye of the Horizon 2020 project PARTISPACE (www.partispace.eu), funded by the European Commission. She has also participated as a project partner in two European Strategic Partnership projects titled PARTIBRIDGES and OUYE.

A Mercator-IPC fellow for the 2023/2024 academic year, Lüküslü was elected to the board of the Youth and Generation Research Network of the European Sociological Association in 2024. She is currently a faculty member and the Chair of the Department of Sociology at Yeditepe University.
